A commissioned piece is more than a single image. It is a record of someone's becoming. Honouring a season, preserving a story or giving form to what words cannot fully express.
What a commission can become
Petey Art commissions are original mixed-media works created in acrylic, charcoal and graphite on canvas. Portraits, symbolic compositions, or pieces built entirely around the story you bring. No two commissions look the same, because no two stories do.
Past commissions have explored resilience, identity, quiet strength and personal transformation through figurative imagery, botanical symbolism and the storytelling traditions that shape my artistic practice.
The work begins with you: your story, the person or moment you wish to honour, or the feeling you want to preserve, in whatever form best carries it.

Tell me a little about what you would like the piece to honour. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out. -
We have a conversation
I will ask questions about the story, mood and details that matter most. From this conversation, we will establish the size, creative direction, timeline and price for your piece. -
I begin the work
Your piece develops gradually through drawing, colour and layered mixed media. You will receive selected progress updates as the work takes form. -
Your piece is completed
Once finished, your original artwork is prepared and delivered to you — created for your story and no one else.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know exactly what I want before getting in touch?
Not at all. Many commissions begin with a feeling rather than a fully formed idea. A conversation is the starting point, not a brief you need to arrive with.
How long does a commission take?
Most commissions are completed within 6 to 10 weeks from the start of the work, depending on size and complexity. Your timeline will be agreed before work begins.
Do you need a photograph of the subject?
For portrait commissions, a reference photograph is helpful but the piece is never a direct copy. The work is interpretive, rooted in the story and feeling you bring, not a photographic likeness.
Can I commission a piece as a gift?
Yes. Commission pieces make deeply personal gifts. If you would like the process kept confidential, simply let me know at the outset.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on the size of the canvas, the complexity of the composition and the requested timeline. You will receive a full quote before any work begins, there are no surprises.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Commissions can be shipped worldwide. Shipping costs and arrangements will be confirmed as part of your quote.
